The science of meditation has grown tremendously in the last two decades. Most studies have focused on evaluating the clinical effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions, neural and other physiological correlates of meditation, and individual cognitive and emotional aspects of meditation. Far less research has been conducted on more challenging domains to measure, such as group and. The goal of this grant is to develop infrastructure for conducting clinical and translational science research. Relevant social science research proposals will also be considered. Michigan Sea Grant also seeks to bring together innovative research teams from Michigan universities, and where possible, leverage active research programs conducted by federal and state agencies. Michigan Sea Grant Strategic Plan (PDF) Graduate Student Research. Phocine distemper virus (PDV) was first recognized in following a massive epidemic in harbor and grey seals in north-western Europe. Since then, the epidemiology of infection in North Atlantic and Arctic pinnipeds has been investigated. In the western North Atlantic endemic infection in harp and grey seals predates the European epidemic, with relatively small, localized mortality events.
The Consortium has funded social science research projects addressing issues in fisheries and climate change. This stra-tegic planning period will see continued engagement by Rhode Island Sea Grant with its Consortium partners in funding regional social science research. Established inthe National Sea Grant College Program promotes the informed stewardship of coastal resources in 34 joint federal/state university-based programs in every U.S. coastal state (marine and Great Lakes) and Puerto Rico (click here to learn more about Sea Grant's locations nationwide - see the drop-down menu under "Sea Grant Programs").
Introduction. Sea otters (Enhydra lutris) have been managed under international law longer (starting in ) than most marine mammal species (Figure 1).However, science and conservation-based management decisions began about 60 years ago, and much of the research on sea otters in the United States has occurred since the Marine Mammal Protection Act of Cited by: 4.
Science for the sustainable use and conservation of the Great Lakes is at the heart of what we do, and it is part of our charge from Congress as one of 34 state-level Sea Grant programs nationwide. On a two-year cycle, we solicit, receive and review proposals from scientists across Wisconsin.
Three years ago, Wisconsin Sea Grant developed a strategic plan that laid a course for our activity and investments to meet the research and applied-science needs of our coastal residents.
We now have an opportunity to make a course correction, if needed, in our current strategic plan as we begin to look towards our next four-year plan.
Shearwaters and petrels (hereafter petrels) are highly adapted seabirds that occur across all the world’s oceans. Petrels are a threatened seabird group comprising species. They have bet-hedging life histories typified by Future directions for Sea Grant social science research book chick rearing periods, low fecundity, high adult survival, strong philopatry, monogamy and long-term mate fidelity and are thus vulnerable to by: During its eighteen‐year history of research, education, and advisory activities, the National Sea Grant College Program has played a distinctive role in the nation's efforts to develop, use.
The Sea Grant Oil Spill Science Outreach Program and the Gulf Research Program (GRP) of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine convened a series of workshops around the country – in Alabama, Alaska, California, Louisiana, and Virginia – designed to bring regional priorities to the fore in community oil spill.

Sociological Initiatives. Credit: Aileen Devlin / Virginia Sea Grant. The problem is, oceans are global bodies in a globalizing world. The fragmented scientific landscape only makes it harder to answer global-scale questions about ocean change, especially in ways that are useful for meeting international conservation targets, such as Sustainable Development Goal Future Directions in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder presents findings and ideas with the potential to influence both our conceptualization of the condition and the techniques used to address it.
A multidisciplinary panel of experts offers new analyses of risk and resilience factors, individual and group approaches to prevention, the evolving. Ocean Science Assistantship Program (OSAP) Inthe Louisiana Sea Grant College Program was able to fund the Ocean Science Assistantship Program (OSAP) with generous support from Shell.
This program provides student support for two years of Master’s-level research relevant to environmental, social, and economic issues associated with oil.
The section on health research and behavior change will cover interventions like diet and fitness, mental health, smoking cessation, and diabetes management. Topics also include financial and security research, and behavior change in relation to financial and other forms of sensitive information (passwords, phishing, and financial transactions).
Cooperative work with other Sea Grant programs in the region will continue. Information will be provided to students, jobseekers, writers (journalists and others) upon request Liaison: Continue to serve on a diverse boards and advisory panels locally, regionally and nationally to provide them with research results, social science expertise.
Providing sound scientific data to promote wise decision-making about New Jersey’s coastal and marine resources is at the heart of NJSGC’s mission. SinceNJSGC has funded competitive research projects at the state’s leading universities focusing on various priority areas related to New Jersey’s most important coastal issues including hazard resilient coastal communities, healthy.
Yet, sex effects are comparable in magnitude to those in several foundational research areas in social psychology such as attribution (d = ) and social influence (d = ).
The small size of most sex differences is a central theme of Hyde's (, ) review of meta-analytical effects in personality, social, and cognitive psychology.
the National Sea Grant Office recognized Pennsylvania Sea Grant as a full Sea Grant College Program. The mission of the Pennsylvania Sea Grant College Program is to promote the ecological and economic sustainability of Pennsylvania’s coastal resources through science-based research, extension, and education.

FISHING & COASTAL COMMUNITIES. MIT Sea Grant works with fishing and coastal communities to understand the issues – environmental, social, and regulatory – that affect community members’ lives and livelihood. Our research, liaison, and outreach efforts are designed to identify problems and seek solutions that balance these communities’ needs with the critical goal of sustaining.
The College of William & Mary is part of the Virginia Sea Grant College Program, which received Sea Grant status in Still, William & Mary stands out as the home of the Institute of Marine Science, a acre state-of-the-art facility that offers students a hands-on facility for research and education. The goal of the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) is to increase the number of undergraduates pursuing coastal science careers by encouraging and supporting specific undergraduate research activities.
Students propose, carry out and report results of a research project related to an existing project funded by Sea Grant.
Many people may NOT have any clue about social science research including some marketing researchers may NOT have any opportunity to conduct social science research in their career path before. This hub will help not only researchers but the people who are interesting in this field understanding further as a guidance in this particular issue.
